Amsterdam The Crane by YAYS is located on the KNSM Island, which used to be an industrial harbour. This harbour crane dates back to 1957 and is an icon for the history of the city.

The island used to be filled with cranes contributing to the world trade. In the 70s, one crane was spared from demolition when the KNSM ceased their activities there; Figee Crane 2868.

The crane has been renovated and transformed into a three-storey luxury apartment. The interior is composed by Edward van Vliet, a renowned Dutch designer. Amsterdam The Crane by YAYS has a beautiful past and now you can make history when staying at this unique accommodation. It will certainly be an unforgettable adventure.

YAYS is perfect for those desiring comfort and exclusivity. The former harbour area has many stories. After World War II the island was the connection between Amsterdam and the rest of the world.

When the KNSM shipping company left the area, it became wasteland and squatters took over. Afterwards it became a residential area but is still a dynamic neighbourhood with many art galleries and local shops. Loods6, a creative melting pot, is next to the crane.

Many interesting sights in Amsterdam Oost are near and it is the place to be for architecture lovers. The ARCAM is close by and many architectural delights are within walking distance. Public transport is a short walk away, taking you the city centre or hip Amsterdam Noord.
